Since 2002 The Urban Institute has researched the academic losses suffered by students when school is out for summer. Per one report, "Much of the observed gain (or loss) results from time in school (or lack thereof)." Per another report, "the quality of the summer activity is an important determinant of whether students gain or lose ground over the summer." Southwest Winner's Foundation has the answer for your 7th and 8th graders! This is a Summer Academy to help keep students learning during the summer months and to get on track for high school, college graduation, and beyond!
