Summer Camps on the River offers a variety of recreational camps: sailing, crew, marine science, or fishing. Summer Camps on the river is an integral part of Christchurch School. We utilize our year-round professional food service and nursing staff. Many of our staff are also teachers at our school; this long-term commitment toward your camper’s success adds a flair of professionalism to our camps.

Among the most popular offerings are our Rappahannock Adventures. We used to call these Marine Science Camps, but the campers told us that we needed to change the name because this was not “just another science camp”. These are outdoor adventures that find the fun in learning about how everyone can use and protect our environment. We have a Critter Camp for younger campers (8-11), theme based adventure exploring trips in canoes, kayaks and on foot (ages 12 – 15). Also long term canoe adventures for High School aged campers to learn about the environment and leadership.

Our Sailing and Crew camps are designed to take beginner to intermediate campers and to help them develop their skill. We also have limited opportunities for experienced campers to receive personalized training. Our boat inventory features 420’s and Lasers.

Our Crew camp features a 12-seat rowing barge!!

We also feature a week-long guided fishing camp with professional fishing guides where we can almost guarantee you will see some of the best fishing ever!

In the evenings, all of our campers get together for a chance to do something a little different. Some of the activities include volleyball, movies, basketball, board game nights, swimming, ice cream trips, golf, soccer, and tennis at various times throughout the program. Weekend activities offer entertainment both on and off campus including excursions to theme parks and nearby historic attractions (Bush Gardens, Water Country USA, King's Dominion). The cost of these activities is included in the boarding tuition.

New this year are our Family Weekends. Bring your family for a chance to get away and try a weekend of sailing together as a family. The weekend of sailing will include sailing instruction, fishing, crabbing, and an old fashioned camp fire program.
