SUMMER STUDY AT CU-Boulder offers a 5-week, COLLEGE CREDIT program for qualified 10th, 11th or 12th grade students as well as a 3-week ENRICHMENT program for students completing 9th, 10th or 11th grade. Students in the 5- week program earn 3 credits while enrolled in an actual college course taught by distinguished CU-Boulder faculty.  Courses include Sociology, History, Biology, Music, Astronomy, Literature, English, Human Development and Family Studies, Art, Psychology, Languages, Theater, Communications and more.  In addition to their college course, students choose at least one non-credit enrichment class to round out their academic programming.  These “high interest & low pressure” classes include Creative Writing, Engineering, Computers, a Community Service program, the nationally renowned Kaplan SAT Prep course, Calculus, Speed Reading, Architecture, Law, ESL, Theater, Music, Art, Medicine, Business and other exciting offerings.

 

Students in the 3-week program take 2 or 3, of the non-credit enrichment classes listed above.

 

Students in both programs have full use of the extensive sports and recreational facilities of this spectacular campus at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, including tennis courts, an indoor ice skating rink, racquetball/ squash courts, an indoor pool, basketball, soccer, volleyball, baseball and lacrosse facilities.  Private tennis instruction is also available as are clinics in basketball, soccer, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee and weight training.   In addition to sports, daily afternoon activities also include Tie-Dying, Jewelry-making, an A Capella singing group, Dance workshop, Rock Band, Poets’ Corner and more.  Fun-filled evenings include shows, concerts, dance clubs, ice-skating, movies, broom-ball, bowling, skit/talent night and other great activities.

 

Exciting weekend adventures are included EVERY weekend!  We visit VAIL AND BRECKENRIDGE... Colorado’s finest resort towns! For the adventure minded: Choose an action-packed day with horseback-riding, mountain biking, hiking or an AERIAL TRAM RIDE overlooking the spectacular Vail Valley below. For the less adventuresome: explore VAIL and BRECKENRIDGE with friends and staff…  PIKE’S PEAK AND COLORADO SPRINGS…Explore the magnificent GARDEN OF THE GODS, where spectacular sandstone Red Rock formations have made this scenic paradise world famous. We continue on to PIKE’S PEAK, with it’s imposing size and snow capped mountain peaks providing an awesome backdrop to the bright blue summer skies. At night we’ll see a brilliant LASER LIGHT SHOW at the eerie CAVE OF THE WINDS…  WHITEWATER RAFTING ADVENTURE...Thrilling summertime fun! For the ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME we’ll "shoot the rapids" on either the COLORADO or ARKANSAS RIVER.  Enjoy the serene beauty of winding canyons and clam river flow, often interrupted by turbulent rapids which make this the WETTEST & WILDEST day of the summer! …ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK AND ESTES PARK…At an elevation of over 14,000 feet, we explore the massive grandeur of ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, nicknamed "the park in the sky." Enjoy the panoramic vistas, an awesome array of mountain peaks, forests of spruce and fir trees, wide valleys, meandering streams, lakes and AMAZING WILDLIFE!. CHOOSE YOUR ACTION ADVENTURE! We arrange HORSEBACK RIDING, HIKING and BIKING excursions so everyone can participate and have the experience they’ll enjoy most.

 

OUR EXCLUSIVE CONCEPT of weekend travel is included in the program fee and completes “THE TOTAL PRE-COLLEGIATE EXPERIENCE” at The University of Colorado.
