Tamwood Camps – Whistler

Tamwood International Camps has been operating summer camps in Canada since 1992. With camps in Whistler, Vancouver and London, Ontario, Tamwood offers something for everyone.

An important feature of all of Tamwood's camps is the international mix of its campers. Drawing campers from Europe, Asia, Mexico, USA, Canada and South America, Tamwood provides campers with an opportunity to learn about foreign people and cultures and to meet and make friends with young people from around the world.

WHISTLER

Whistler, host venue for the 2010 winter Olympics, is a great place to spend the summer vacation. Whistler is located only two hours from Vancouver and is a popular summer and winter vacation resort, famous for its natural beauty. With access by gondola to high alpine areas, four fresh water lakes, over 25 kilometres of paved bicycle and walking trails, three golf courses and numerous nature hikes, mountain bike trails, and modern medical services, Whistler is one of North America’s prettiest and most exciting places for a summer camp, and also one of the safest. Campers arriving by plane are met at the Vancouver Airport and taken to Whistler in the Tamwood Camps bus.

ADVENTURE CAMP

Ages 13-17. Teens learn rock climbing, mountain biking (on real mountain trails), kayaking and outdoor camping skills. In week 2, they do an exciting three day hiking trip in the Whistler back country. Teens can combine 2 weeks in Adventure Camp with one or more weeks in the Tennis and Golf Camps.

TENNIS AND ENGLISH CAMPS

Ages: 9-17. In each of these camps, campers take instructional activities part of the day and then they do exciting activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, arts, camping and sightseeing tours. Evenings are full of fun social activities with the campers in all the other camp programs.

Non-English speaking Campers ages 7-17 can take part in the English and Activity Camp and mix with English speaking campers in the evening and weekend activities.

FACILITIES

Tamwood's summer camp in Whistler uses all of the resort's facilities. Accommodation for students is in residence buildings located on the mountainside just minutes from the village.

English classes are taught at the Whistler high school, a modern facility with large bright classrooms, a computer lab, gymnasium, sports fields and outdoor basketball courts.

Activities are taught on the mountain, at the lake, at the parks, on the sports fields, on the trails and in the Tamwood main dining and recreation building located a few minutes walk from the residence.

Tennis classes are given at the Whistler Racquets Club.

STAFF

All of the staff working at the Tamwood summer camp programs are carefully selected for their enthusiasm, skills, experience and maturity. The instructors are all first aid certified and qualified to teach the activities they lead. Many of the activity leaders are university students and all of the staff love working with young people.
