Unique Features of 2011 English & French Immersion Language Camp Camp Dates Camp dates: From 11 to 22 July 2011 Arrive by: 10 July 2011 (Sunday) Depart by: 23 July 2011 (Saturday) Airport Pick up and Drop off To ensure safety, campers will be picked up upon arrival and dropped off at the airport at the end of their trip by host families. Instant Messaging to Inform Parents of Flight Arrival and Departure To offer parents a peace of mind, Chansong will notify parents of campers’ flight arrival and departure status through instant messaging. Regular Video Uploads of Camp Events Parents will be updated of their children’s progress and experiences at our camp through video access. Video Chat to Maintain Close Contact with Parents Campers can maintain close contact with parents through online video chats. Welcome / Orientation Party Chansong will host a welcome orientation party for our campers on the first day of camp, with the aim of cultivating friendship between campers, teachers and camp counsellors. No personal cheques will be accepted. Guided Visits and Tours Campers will tour landmarks of Montreal to experience the ambience of the French Canadian culture. There will also be guided visits of major French and English universities in Quebec, such as McGill University, University of Montreal, University of Sherbrooke at Longueuil, and University of Quebec at Montreal. Valid Travel Documents It is the responsibility of participants to have valid travel documents (e.g. passport, visa) and to obtain necessary permits to study abroad. Air Tickets and Itinerary Participants are fully responsible for the purchase of air tickets and itinerary arrangements to ensure that arrival and departure dates are in accordance with our camp schedule. Medical Insurance For campers from outside the province of Quebec, and those who are not covered under the Quebec Medicare System, please ensure that appropriate medical insurance packages have been arranged prior to departure. In 2011, Chansong Canadian International Conservatory of Music will be hosting its English and French Language Camps in Montreal for teenage international students at Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts located in the West Island of Montreal. MISSION Chansong advocates an integrated learning experience that blends learning with fun. It promotes balanced development of character while maximizing the potential of the young learner. The goal of this summer program is to provide the best educational opportunities to students through exposure to world-class musicians and educators. This camp aims to inspire creativity, and to provide opportunities for students to learn English and French through cultural immersion. Chansong’s summer program prepares students to face the competitive demands of the modern world while maintaining a healthy and balanced life-style. It offers students a foretaste of studying abroad while providing a supportive and friendly atmosphere where students acquire important life attributes such as creativity, discipline, confidence and stamina, character, interpersonal relationships and leadership skills through immersion. STUDY IN MONTREAL Montreal is a uniquely bilingual city in North America. It provides a unique environment for students to learn and practice English and French in a living and dynamic context. Canada is recognized as one of the largest, cleanest and safest countries of the world. Lambda is a school that emphasizes on security. It is equipped with 24-hour video-recorded surveillance system and entrance supervision at the reception. FACULTY Professors are professionally trained in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Lambda's state-of-the-art facilities and world-class professors offer an unparalleled educational and inspiring experience for learners of all ages and levels. FREQUENT "LIVE" CAMP VIDEO UPDATES Every few days, Chansong will upload current video footage of snippets taken from our camps to our website. Parents can have access to these videos online to keep updated with the activities of their children. This offers parents a level of confidence towards the well-being of their children, as well as keeps parents informed of the dynamics of the camp. LANGUAGE CAMPS Sight-seeing, Tours, Guided visits of Universities and major landmarks of Montreal Language Camp students will also experience cultural immersion through guided tours - including campuses of major universities in Quebec, and fun excursion to unique touristic landmarks of Montreal such as visits to museums, historical and cultural venues, and attending various cultural and outdoor activities. MUSIC CAMPS Diverse Musical and Artistic Experiences Music Camp students experience a wide range of activities in the Chansong summer camp includes musical instruction, daily musical practice, painting and drawing, photography and videography, cooking, language immersion, dance, and group games. The goal is to cultivate discipline, stamina, creativity, independence, responsibility, resourcefulness, leadership, and a healthy life style. Daily activities are supervised by experienced camp counsellors who can fluently speak English, French and Chinese. In music training, students will benefit from the unique Chansong Method, where musicality, musical appreciation and performance skills are cultivated simultaneously from the earliest stages of learning. Upon completion of the summer program, students will perform in a live concert and receive a certificate of completion for the program. For students who wish to fully challenge their performance capacities, they also have the option of participating in examinations, auditions and evaluations. HOMESTAY During their stay, students will reside at the homes of in pre-selected host families. Chansong maintain close contact with host families to ensure that students receive care and attention in a supportive environment while they are away from home. Meals will be provided in the homestay program. HIGH SECURITY Chansong camps provide a high level of security for our students. Our campus is equipped with 24-hour surveillance systems, and entrance access is controlled by our reception staff. Students and members of the school community are required to sign-in and sign-out upon arrival and departure.
