DescriptionBack to top

This day camp offers the beginning or advanced student the opportunity to be part of a complete musical theater show. All musical theater elements are present: singing, dancing and acting. The junior division camps are written to accommodate all levels of expertise. All children are guaranteed a few lines in the show and there are advanced opportunities in character parts for the older, advanced or return students. There are small speaking parts for the beginning level student. There are large group and small group scenes and songs. Ensemble work is emphasized at this camp. The children learn about the theater, play games, learn how to put a musical together and basically have a ton of fun!

Debbie Tedrick/Director & Music Director

Debbie teaches voice, piano and theater in Detroit and Orlando. She owns a theatrical agency, InterACT Entertainment, hiring music and theatrical talent for private and corporate events. Debbie originated the role of Celeste Romano and was Music Director for Detroits "Tony n' Tina's Wedding." She is also a Cabaret performer, producing/directing a troupe called "Cabaret Club." Debbie holds a Bachelor of Music degree and Minor in Theater from California State University, Los Angeles, and is completing a Master of Music Education degree  from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Debbie currently splits her time in Detroit and Orlando. She has just finished her coursework and thesis for her Master of Musical Theater degree from the University of Central Florida, Orlando Conservatory Theater. She has directed summer camps for 20 years and is happy to be returning to TCH for her fifth year.

Joey Albright/Drama Director

Joey Albright has taught many camps and workshops for children and adults alike. He hails from the prestigious Purple Rose Theater and has worked extensively with Jeff Daniels, even co-starring with Jeff in the movie Escanaba in Da Moonlight. Joeys credits include shows at the Gem Theater as well as many other well-known local and regional theatres. If youve been around Detroits theater scene, youve definitely seen Joey play one of the varied characters of his career. Although Joey is no rookie to teaching camps, he is excited to be on board for his second year at TCH.
