WEEK LONG JULY SESSIONS:

Week 1: “Show People”

July 6 - 10

An introduction to the world of musical theatre. If you are new to the theatre or want to brush up on your theatre skills, this is the week for you! Learn about hit Broadway shows like The Sound of Music, The Secret Garden, Anything Goes, The Little Mermaid, Curtains, and 13. Get introduced to how a musical is created while gaining valuable acting, singing, and dance training! End the week with a show!

Week 2: “Let’s Go to the Movies”

July 13 - 17

Discover the affect of the movies on musical theatre (and vice versa) by studying shows which have appeared on both stage and screen, such as Grease, Annie, Oliver!, Mary Poppins, Hairspray, and Rent. We will watch and stage musical numbers from these movies while taking classes in acting, singing, dance, and more. Prepare for a final performance showcasing everything you have learned!

Week 3: “Dancing Queen”

July 20 - 24

A look at “jukebox musicals” - shows using previously released popular songs as their score. We will study shows like Leader of the Pack (Ellie Greenwich), Crazy for You (The Gershwins’), Smokey Joe’s Café (Leiber & Stoller), Mamma Mia! (ABBA), and Jersey Boys (The Four Seasons). Students will be trained in acting, singing, dance and more. All of our efforts will culminate in a performance at the end of the week!

Week 4: “The Lullaby of Broadway”

July 27 - 31

And the Tony goes to YOU for Best Actor in a Musical! We will take a glimpse at several Tony Award Winning Best Musicals throughout the years, from the first show to ever win a Tony - Kiss Me Kate - to other shows such as The Pajama Game, Bye Bye Birdie, A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, and this year’s Tony Award Winner (TBA in June). We will take classes and prepare for our own Tony Award Winning final performance!
