University of Toronto Youth Summer Programs
The University of Toronto’s Youth Summer Programs offered in July and August are designed for high school students who are contemplating a career in either the medical sciences or the legal field. The Programs are offered by two of the University of Toronto’s most renowned faculties: the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Law. Each program offers unrivalled academic programming combined with access to leading professors and world class facilities.
The Faculty of Medicine's Youth Summer Program offers high school students an exclusive glimpse into the world of medicine and medical research at the University of Toronto. The Program's unparalleled access to the University of Toronto's medical faculty and research facilities allows participants to experience what it is like to be a student at Canada's premier medical school.
The Program offers four unique one-week modules, each one introducing a major medical discipline. Please visit our website for a detailed description of all four modules and weeks. Each module offers lectures from world-class faculty and hands-on experimentation in cutting-edge research laboratories guided by distinguished medical researchers. In addition to the core academic content, career seminars help students to make informed decisions in the field of medicine, health sciences and medical research and provide guidance regarding the admissions process for both the University of Toronto and the Faculty of Medicine.
The Faculty of Law's Youth Summer Program gives high school students an extraordinary glimpse into the reality of criminal law. Students immerse into the shoes of a criminal lawyer studying and debating cases and topics that deal with cutting-edge legal issues. The week culminates with a mock trial through the learning experience of what it is like to be a student at Canada's most prestigious law school.
Students have the opportunity to learn first-hand from professors, law students and lawyers. They develop their analytical and communication skills by examining legal issues, developing legal strategy, preparing witnesses, and delivering persuasive arguments in a mock courtroom. Students may also visit real life court houses, tour law firms, and receive practical information and advice about how to gain entry to university and law school. This program offers an unprecedented opportunity to spend time in the fascinating world of criminal law, legal thinking and advocacy.
