Summer Session 2011
Are you, or do you know, a high school or college student with a desire to unlock their artistic talent? The North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Session in visual arts could be their key. The Visual Arts Program, which offers a four-week intensive session for high school and beginning college students, is designed to train students in the skills and tools of visual communication. Studio classes have been carefully planned to explore the mechanical, philosophical and intellectual aspects of the arts experience in terms of the individuality of each student. The curriculum includes instruction and practice in drawing, two- and three-dimensional design, and sculpture, supplemented by introductory lectures in art history, field trips and intensive work in the art laboratory. The 2011 Summer Session runs from June 19 through July 9. The faculty for 2011 is Greg Shelnutt, Sculpture (permanent Visual Arts Faculty), and Will Taylor, Drawing & Design (permanent Visual Arts Faculty).
