Wellspring Adventure Camp North Carolina is the most effective summer program for weight loss and behavioral change ever developed for children and younger teens. Wellspring Adventure Camp has been profiled by CNN and the BBC.
Through unprecedented activity levels and an innovative, healthful menu, participants lost an average of nearly 5 pounds each week last summer. In addition, all campers who continued working with us in our after-care program, which is provided upon enrollment in the Adventure Camp, were successful in continuing or sustaining their weight loss after camp.
The Adventure Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for boys and girls 11-17. Led by Executive Director Deb Whitmore and Program Director Jordan Robinson, MSW, even campers who are hesitant find themselves fully engaging in and committing to the program before too long. Of course, it's not hard to fall in love with whitewater rafting, which we do about every week or two. Or rock climbing and rappelling at Looking Glass. Or the natural water slide at Sliding Rock. But then there's also hiking, camping (which we do 3-4 nights each week), mountain biking and other activities that campers will be able to take with them when they return home. At the Adventure Camp, it's not uncommon for campers to take 30,000 steps (12-15 miles) in a day, and to have the best summer of their lives.
Weight comes off rapidly at the Adventure Camp. Mood and self-esteem improve even faster. Campers learn to trust one another and establish strong friendships. Most important, campers experience success and gain the tools they will need to be successful weight controllers for life. The success they achieve while at this weight loss adventure camp provides them with ample motivation for continuing to work hard after returning home.
Located at Camp Hope in a secluded valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains, with the East Fork of the Pigeon River running through camp providing swimming and water sports opportunities, the Adventure Camp is one of the smallest, most intimate camps in the nation. Our capacity is only 90 campers. Last year, the Adventure Camp was full by March. So please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in the program.
We hope to see you at Camp Hope this summer for a life-changing experience, and the best summer of your life!
