The Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program is the only summer camp for the gifted in West Virginia and is the most affordable camp of its kind in the country. Founded by a college professor to serve his own gifted sons, the program has been extant since 1983. Advanced STEM classes + history and creative writing are taught by college professors. Students live in dorms with students separated by sex except for lounge space which is communal. Each floor has a same-sex counselor and there is one supervisory counselor. Admin assistant and director both spend time in the dorms with students and provide oversight. Evenings are for activities, downtime, relaxation, homework, music practice, and socializing. Lights out at 11pm. There is a reading requirement for grades 5/6 - Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne. More info can be gained from our website or by calling us at 304-473-8330.

    Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program

    June 18 - July 1, 2023

Since the first camp in 1983, the Wesleyan Summer Gifted Program has been committed to fostering the development of gifted adolescents in the quantitative, verbal, and social areas. The teachers are all college professors who possess a special interest in gifted education.  Our program offers the same educational opportunity for the gifted as similar summer programs throughout the United States, but at a fraction of the cost.  Classes are challenging, yet fun. Creativity is emphasized and channeled both directly and indirectly.  Many campers return year after year.

The dates for 2023 are Sunday, June 18 through Saturday, July 1.

The cost of the program is $1,300 for two weeks of classes, room, and board.  Day camper rates and sibling discounts are also available.
