YMCA Camp Loma Mar
Administrative Address:
Loma Mar, California, USA
Camp Loma Mar is nestled among the majestic redwoods on the northern edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains in San Mateo County on 105 acres and 10 minutes from the ocean. Since 1894 Camp Loma Mar has been, to tens of thousands of boys and girls, a passport to the great outdoors.
Days are filled with swimming, nature hikes, zip line, a climbing wall, archery, arts and crafts, basketball, camp games, and exploration in and along the legendary Pescadero Creek. All campers get together for the nightly campfire to learn traditional songs, stories, and games, and one night is spent sleeping under the stars after a self-prepared meal.
YMCA Camp Loma Mar has the perfect setup, Rookie Camp, for the second or third grader who is "iffy" about going to a sleep-away camp. The Rookie Camp is a four-day, three-night camp, perfect for the first-timer.
Our price structure is based on a three-tier system. This gives families the chance to select their own rate. Tier 1 is a rate that reflects the actual cost of the program. Tier 2 is a partially subsidized rate to help families that cannot afford the full cost, and Tier 3 is heavily subsidized rate for families in great need of assistance. Scholarships are also available.
The camp accommodates up to 240 people. Year-round cabins, each with a sleeping capacity for 8-12 people, are arranged in two villages around a central shower and rest-room facility. Two lodges and a new dining hall provide ample space for program activities.
Camp Loma Mar is accredited through the American Camping Association. Our camp has also been awarded a Sustainable Award through the County of San Mateo, Assemblyman Jerry Hill.
Our qualified directors and counselors are chosen for their experience, maturity and dedication to our focus on the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. A great majority of our counselors and directors return year after year, offering a continuity of tradition and spirit.
