Camp YMCA Kanawana offers an exciting summer camp experience that focuses on fun, adventure, learning, and creativity in a safe & cooperative environment.  It is a place where young people can learn about nature and be physically active outdoors while acquiring new skills, building self-confidence and establishing lasting friendships

YMCA Kanawana offers a diverse range of programs and activities designed to meet the needs of our campers (co-ed, ages 7-17) .

We are located in St-Sauveur , Quebec, Canada (1 hour from Montreal, Quebec)  our site is composed of 550 acres of pristine wilderness with three private lakes.  Our programs are guided by the traditional YMCA Camping principles of developing the whole child in Spirit, Mind, and Body emphasizing  fun, cooperation, appreciation for the environment, creativity, challenge, imagination, and learning - all aimed at the positive growth, enjoyment and developmental needs of each child.

Leadership Programs

Leader-in training program for youth 16-17 are offered emphasizing skill development, outdoor adventure and counselor training (8 week program).

Outdoor Adventure Canoe trip programs: Flat water trip 4-8 days (11-5 years old) and White Water Voyageur canoe trips  4-21 days (13-17 years old)

WOLF (wilderness Outdoor leadership Fieldwork) 16+ The revamped W.O.L.F. program is a training program designed for people who are passionate about the outdoors and looking to gain experience in back country canoe tripping and guiding. Whether participants are thinking about eventual work as an outdoor professional or simply empowering themselves with the skills and knowledge to thoroughly enjoy the great outdoors, this program will provide participants with formal training and experiential education in order to attain their goals.

The Voyageur program emphasizes adventure, challenge and friendship, plus the acquisition of new skills in the area of community living, camping skills, outdoor survival, team work and leadership.

The Voyageurs live in tents and have two experienced, qualified and well trained canoe trip leaders for each group of 8 campers for white water trips, and 10 campers for flat water trips. The first days of each experience are spent in camp preparing and packing for their trip, as well as doing fun team-building activities to help create a strong group dynamic. For more details about tripping safety, please consult our Health & Safety page.
