Yoga and Art Camps
Summer Address:
Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaEach day will consist of approximately 60 minutes of yoga followed by a 10 minute break to have a drink and make your way downstairs to The Paint Spot for 60 minutes of art followed by 10 minute break to make your way back to Lotus Soul for final relaxation and journalling. The art projects will be broken down into the following:
Days one and two: Silk Mandalas
You will create beautiful mandalas on silk, using bright colors and water-based resist (for drawing). Focus will be on color harmonies and composition techniques, as well as exploring water based media with resist.
Day four: Tye-Dye T-shirts
Day four will consist of a tye-dying session where students learn how different dyes and compounds will create long lasting, colourful t-shirt designs which will be perfect for the bright summer season. Everyone will be encouraged to wear their t-shirt on the last day of classes to show off their handiwork.
Days three and five: Handcasting
Students will try their "hand" at handcasting, a method creating a duplicate of ones' han. You will use plaster strips to make a mould of the closed hand and then pour plaster of paris into the moulds. When dry, the cast hands will pop out of the moulds, ready to be painted and decorated as students see fit.
Day five: Mini Gallery
Lotus Soul Gym will host a 30 minute mini gallery in our studio where the students can showcase a piece of art, a favorite yoga posture or recite a journal entry.
