Juneau boasts unique activities that your family won't find anywhere else. Ride in a wheeled sled pulled by huskies with Temsco Helicopters, play all day at Zach Gordon Youth Center, and marvel at the ancient Mendenhall Glacier.
Meet fluffy, playful husky puppies at Summer Dog Sled Camp run by Temsco Helicopters. Take the whole family on a ride in a wheeled dog sled pulled by Alaskan huskies as they train for the snowy winter months. As you make your way through the beautiful Sheep Creek Valley and enjoy the nature and scenic views, stop for a glimpse of an old gold mine and learn about Gold Rush history in the area. Kids will love to meet the dogs after your ride and can spend some quality time playing with the husky puppies who will pull sleds one day.
Have fun all day at the Zach Gordon Youth Center. Endless activities suit all interests and ages. Children and adults alike can scale the climbing wall to test their stamina and strength. Play a game of pickup basketball with the family, or host your own ping pong or foosball tournament. After running around and burning off some energy, get creative doing arts and crafts, or settle down with a family board game.
Take in the majestic, breathtaking views of the Mendenhall Glacier and spend a day connecting with the natural world. Kids can watch a short film, touch two-hundred year old ice, and participate in a nature program. Meander through the damp rainforest of Mendenhall Lake to Nugget Falls with the kids as they name the icebergs and wildlife along the way. Animals in the area include porcupines, bald eagles, and black bears, so keep an eye out!
