Daly City, the gateway to the peninsula, is right on the outskirts of San Francisco and is a cheaper alternative for shopping and recreation. There is seven miles of coast for swimming with the kids, over 2,000 acres of park land for family picnics, and some of the top universities in California are just around the corner. Browse through our online directory for Daly City to find a summer camp that will catapult your child into new knowledge.

Come home with some gorgeous baubles after enrolling your child in Jewelry Making: Art and Language Immersion Camps by Dragonfly Designs. The Mandarin Immersion Class teaches the language through early morning yoga stretches, jewelry making techniques, and games. Some of the art taught includes jewelry making, candle making, tie dye, painting, and wire work. An immersion class is also taught in Spanish. These classes are perfect for students in Spanish or Mandarin immersion schools or who are already taking language classes. Not only will your child's language skills improve, but they'll keep fit, make treasures and keepsakes, and of course, make new friends.

Send your littlest ones to a bilingual preschool program at Latchkey Alternative Center. Their summer camp runs from 6:30am to 5:00pm (perfect for parents that have to be off at work) and has Teddy Bear class, for ages 2-4, and Dinosaur class, for Pre-K ages 4-5. The classes are taught in English and Spanish. The morning has play time and self-selective learning, then after lunch there is story time and indoor and outdoor activities. A short movie is shown, the students get nap time, and lastly, there is a snack time and more outdoor activities. All meals are provided.

Take some gorgeous sunset photos with the family at Thornton State Beach, which has a popular vista point. It's the perfect way to relax from a day of camp by frolicking barefoot in the sand, eating a picnic dinner on the dunes, and just watching the day end from the vista. Hiking trails and equestrian trails are available for the family that wants to keep the action going. As this beach is located in the Bay Area, it is advised to wear layers. It can get cold and windy, especially when the fog rolls in. Hiking shoes are also recommended.
