Confrontation Point Ministries designs, organizes, and facilitates short-term missions trips in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. For nine weeks every summer, youth groups from across the nation travel to Tennessee and Kentucky to take part in our unique missions and wilderness adventure programs that focus on service, challenge, team dynamics, and leadership development. Each year, Confrontation Point Ministries hires 30 to 40 college age students and recent grads to join our summer missions team and lead these life-changing experiences.

For the adventurous and outdoor lovers, Confrontation Point provides weeklong wilderness trips. Groups spend the week camping in state parks and wilderness areas, sleeping in tents or under tarps, and showering in streams and waterfalls. The groups are challenged and pushed out of their comfort zones as they spend each day participating in different adventure activities which include: rock climbing, rappelling, caving, overnight hiking, and whitewater rafting. The CP wilderness staff lead all of these activities except for rafting. It is the staff’s responsibility to encourage the youth, use hands-on experiences to share spiritual truths, and oversee safety.

The Mystery Trip, Confrontation Point’s fastest growing program, is designed to foster spiritual growth through a combination of wilderness and service activities. The week’s activities are kept secret, and the youth must overcome group challenges to reveal their next move. We use the mystery theme to introduce and focus on the Spiritual Disciplines, the practices of classic Christianity, and discuss the Christian’s journey of faith. Mystery Trip staff serve as guides as they lead the groups on a journey through a variety of spiritual, adventure, and service experiences such as homeless shelter ministry, working with the disabled, working with children, and serving the elderly to name a few. The staff focus on drawing out the spiritual implications and relevance of each activity, and encourage youth to delve deeper in their faith.

Each week during the summer junior and senior high youth groups come and do home repair projects for needy and disabled Kentucky/Tennessee residents. Mondays through Thursdays the groups serve on worksites. On Fridays, teamwork and leadership are fostered through outdoor adventure activities, which include: caving, climbing and rappelling, and whitewater rafting.
