Purtle Brass Conference (PbC) is available for university credit under Anderson University's Masters of Music Education degree. However, the environment is very inviting to partipants of any age or level of playing. No other event gives this much practical content and social time to get to know artists like Harry Kim (founder of Vine Street Horns, Lead Trumpet American Idol, Phil Collins and many others), Bob O'Donnell (Los Angeles Studio and Theatre Musician), and Philippe Schartz (Principal Trumpet with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, hear on the BBC PROMS, and numerous solo albums).
Jeff Purtle hosts this event and explains how the teachings of Claude Gordon helped these artists' careers. The guest artists do talk about life lessons from their successful careers that are only learned on the job as a pro. Philippe Schartz will be premiering never before seen HD video of what the diaphragm does during brass playing. Participants play a real recording session to tracks recorded by Ricky Minor and the Tonight Show Band's rhythm section accompany horn arrangements done by Harry Kim.
