Objectives for Resident Campers: Learn how to improve your riding skills in both English and Western disciplines. Campers will learn different horse behaviors, ride several horses prior to a permanent assignment for the week. For this reason we suggest that enrollees choose a two week program as it takes a rider a little while to adjust to her horse. Try Outs - time is spent during try-outs to determine which horse is appropriate for each camper. Campers receive thorough instruction in a group and individual setting - each child receives one-on-one time with her instructor.

  1. 2 riding periods a day (weather depending - heat index dependent) . Campers have two formal lessons and one additional riding activity each day. In lessons, campers learn and practice English & Western riding disciplines such as equitation, hunt seat, show jumping, dressage, cutting, reining and ranch horse work.
  2. Additional activities include trail rides, jumping
  3. Horsemanship - every day! - Campers learn how to care for their horses with activities such as grooming, tacking, first aid, hoof care, nutrition and anatomy.
  4. Barn Chores - every day - Campers learn how to care for horses by participating in daily chores- mucking paddocks, cleaning tack, feeding and barn maintenance.
  5. X Country Arena- Once riders are ready, they have the opportunity to practice jumping on our open pasture cross country jump course.
  6. Western Disciplines & Lessons - barrel racing, reining, western pleasure, cutting, trail class, ranch horse work.
  7. Attend local horse shows, talk to the active show riders (all ages), see how youngsters turn into experts!
