The December MSA recall has significantly affected the operations of the summer camps and their ability to use their ropes courses. Many climbing walls were left inoperable with no alternative solutions.
However now there is a reliable solution available. SafeClimb - a division of climbing wall manufacturer Pyramide USA, has brought North Safety automatic belay with a centrifugal brake system in order to mitigate the problem.
Unlike its’ 1-brake MSA predecessor, the North Safety Auto belay has 2 independent brakes to ensure maximized safety and eliminate the risk of failure. The system is also 10 pounds lighter. Since North Safety Auto belay is similar to the recalled MSA unit in size and shape, the replacement takes a few minutes.
