On April 22, MySummerCamps.com will be joining all environmentally-conscious people in celebrating the 36th Anniversary of Earth Day.
MySummerCamps.com lists over 11,000 traditional camps where children and counselors can get away for the summer – or part of it – to form new friendships and bond with the great outdoors.
Traditional camps depend on offering a natural summer environment for kids. It’s no secret why so many traditional camps depend on a simple, yet effective solution for a summer showcase —
1. Woodlands with clearings for cabins, land sports (especially a baseball diamond and a basketball court), recreation center, dining hall, religious service space; all connected by paths.
2. Water – lakes, rivers, oceans – is a central theme for almost all traditional summer camps, comprised of: - Waterfront for swimming, regattas, and beach activities
- Canoe docks
- Sailing docks
- Waterskiing docks
- Surf and Windsurf areas
- Etc . . .
3. Air – fresh and clean with bright sun. Rainy days too.
Adventure camps depend even more heavily on Nature; MySummerCamps.com lists 2,200 of them. Backpacking, canoeing, farming, rock climbing, wilderness, and others, are defined by Nature and the environment.
Nature is the great escape and the mainstay of most summer camps. That’s why it’s important to remember Earth Day 2006: April 22.
