2008 Theme: The Conference Center Professional (Individual Professionalism)
Conference center leadership is a profession, not just a job. Conference center professionals not only “profess” a particular body of knowledge but also must demonstrate leadership capabilities and present themselves in a confident, effective manner. They manage their various constituencies, including the communities in which their center functions. They must have excellent communications skills and understand how to comport themselves in all manner of public situations, including with their guests, their boards, their financial supporters, and the world at large. Other key components of professionalism include ethics and an understanding of the Core Principles for Professional Conference Center Management developed by IACCA.
