Summer camp partnerships are a popular way of doing business, mainly because they split the work and planning, and divide the rewards and consequences. Business partnerships in all fields can be extremely successful or notoriously difficult because of personality clashes. The typical conflict: The strategic type versus The visionary type Both types can be practical for a successful business partnership, but without regular communication, one personality often wins out. Difficulties will arise, but more importantly, there are steps to overcome them: Lines of communication need to be open. Meetings need to be held with important items discussed. Partners need to keep in touch on a regular basis. Plans need to be in place before the camp season is in high gear. Summer camp partnerships work when both parties understand the risks in the venture. Written guidelines are excellent tools to overcome future problems especially when enacted in table top practice sessions. The end of the partnership also should be factored into guidelines so that partners know what to expect when it comes time to part. Profitable business partners focus on making improvements in good times, and they will continue to run successful summer camps. Stephen Winbaum is the Communication Coordinator of MySummerCamps.com
