Ultimate Camp Resource Can't Post

In a fast-paced world, summer camp has altered its form so many times that it’s hard to keep up. The variety of summer activities is increasing endlessly, spawning new creations, like: In this rapidly-changing world of specialty camps, many summer camp directors, and parents, find it reassuring that kids still waltz along paths singing: I’m being swallowed by a boa constrictor, or if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands, as well as participating in thousands of other traditional camp projects, games, skits, songs, stories, ice breakers, and team building experiences.

Traditional camps, which develop these experiences to unite cross-generational campers, now rely on two self-acclaimed campaholics, Chris Pallatto and Ron DeFazio of Ultimate Camp Resource.

Since its launch last year, Ultimate Camp Resource has grown into a comprehensive website for more than 1,000 camp-related activities and articles.

Visitors to the site are able to search its database of resources and to submit new activities. Ultimate Camp Resource provides:
  • different themes each month
  • RSS Feed
  • camp vendor guide
  • and other content
Chris and Ron met in 1996 at YMCA Camp Mataucha in Watertown, CT., and were instantly hooked on the summer camp experience. They are well-known trainers of camp games and providers of teambuilding seminars in the New England area.

“It gets in your blood,” laughs DeFazio, “and you can never go back.”

The two campaholics came up with the idea for Ultimate Camp Resource while preparing for workshops; they couldn’t find a resource site that they considered noteworthy. In response, they sent a fact-finding e-mail to 500 camp directors, and — “feedback was overwhelming,” says Pallatto. “We received libraries of activities, and lots of great suggestions.”

From these humble beginnings, Ultimate Camp Resource has grown into an Internet project to keep kids, staff, and directors filled with fun activities for years to come.

“We get a lot of e-mail from camp staff saying that we saved the day,” says Pallatto. “It’s been very gratifying.”

I’m being swallowed by a boa constrictor, and I don’t like it very much.
