FORT ANN — The ice is thick and the fish are ready to be caught.

YMCA Camp Chingachgook will host its eighth annual Chinga-Classic Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, Feb. 21 and Sunday, Feb. 22. Contestants of all ages can throw a line in and try to catch the heaviest lake trout or salmon of the day. Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes. Runners-up will also receive cash, and all who enter will be eligible for door prizes from local sporting supply stores.

Proceeds from the event support the Capital District YMCA's annual Reach Out for Youth scholarship program.

"Most importantly with the economy with the way it is, kids are going to need support now more than we ever had," said Chingachgook property manager and derby organizer Chris Thompson.
