Briefs: Running Marauders Basketball Camp

The Running Marauders Basketball Camp, in its 10th year. will be held July 11-15 at the Dedham Outdoor Courts at the Dedham Middle School for boys and girls grades 3-6, on July 18-22 for grades 7-10. Tuition is $200, which includes reversible camp tank top, evaluation and a cookout on Fridays. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Camp will consist of staff local high school coaches, college coaches, and high school and college players, as well. Registration should be received by June 25th to secure a spot. Norwood Basketball Summer Camp
The Norwood Basketball Association is pleased to announce that it will be holding its fifth Annual Summer Basketball Camp at Norwood Senior High School. The camp is open to girls and boys entering grades 3-9 and will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (will open at 8 a.m. for early drop offs) from July 18-22.

Dedham Girls Tennis Car Wash
There will be a car wash held at the St. Mary's Church Parking Lot on June 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m to benefit the Dedham High girls tennis team.
Willett Field Opening
Norwood Babe Ruth invites all baseball fans to the opening of Willett Baseball Field on Saturday, May 28. Ceremonies begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by a pair of games. State Representative John Rogers, Town Manager John Carroll, Recreation Director Gerry Miller and Babe Ruth President John Lightizer are some of the officials who will speak.
The first pitch is slated for 12:30 p.m. in a contest between the Dodgers and White Sox. A second game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., matching the Reds and the Athletics. A 42-inch bronze statue of The Natural, donated by Peter Cantanese, will be unvieled behind the backstop. The field features a 12-foot green wall extending from the left field line into left center. The inscriptions on the left field wall will certainly bring a smile to area baseball fans.
The field is part of a Field Renovation Grant secured by the town. Norwood Babe Ruth plans to sell sodas, hot dogs and hamburgers as part of fundraising efforts to construct grandstands. The field is located next to the Willett School.
WW 16-under Summer Softball
All players needed from any town for competitive league played weekday nights. You will learn the fundamentals of hitting, throwing and catching and the mental aspects of the game, taught by college players. Tryouts will be held on Sunday, June 5 and Sunday, June 12 at 6 p.m at the Westwood Senior Center field on Nahatan Street. For more information contact Coach Hansen at 781-799-7771.

Summer Baseball Camps
New England Sports Academy will be conducting three baseball camps at Morrison Park Little League fields in Westwood for players from 6-12 years old. The camps will be held the weeks of July 18-22, July 25-29, and August 1-5 from 9 a.m.-12 noon. The coaching staff will feature Steve Almonte of the Cape Cod Riptide AAU program, Tom Brown Program Manager at NESA and Bob Phillips Director of the Westwood Babe Ruth program. Participants will be grouped by appropriate age and skill level. Instruction will include the fundamentals of batting, throwing, fielding and pitching. Camp fee is $120 per week. Westwood Basketball is looking for a new webmaster. The webmaster's job requires maintaining the organization's website. Knowledge of (or strong desire to learn) web-authoring software is required. The webmaster's principal job in maintaining the website is collecting and/or creating the site's content. This means going to all the meetings and pushing the responsible parties to create the electronic (not paper) content and sending it to you. Shooting for Excellence Camp
The Shooting for Excellence Camp, under the direction of Norwood Boys' Varsity Coach Dave Powell, will begin its 14th year of operation this summer. The camp will be conducted from Monday, June 27 until Friday, July 1 at the Norwood High School gym. The camp will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and will feature lectures and instruction from top high school and college coaches.
Shooting for Excellence Basketball Camp is open to all boys and girls from Norwood and surrounding towns who are entering grades 2-10. Tuition for the week is $205, with discounts available to those families sending more than one child. Each camper will be given an individual evaluation, a camp shirt and an SFE basketball.

Dedham Girls Soccer Golf Tournament
The annual Dedham Girls Soccer Golf Tournament will be held Monday, June 27 at Putterham Meadows in Brookline. Entry fee is $85 person or $340 per foursome. Fee includes golf, cart, registration gift, awards and barbecue with raffle. The tournament begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start, please arrive by 7:30. Holes are available to sponsor for $50. Norwood Senior Babe Ruth Tryouts
Norwood Senior Base Ruth (ages 16-18) is holding sign-ups and tryout from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Junior High South/Coakley Middle School Babe Ruth Baseball field, starting on Saturday April 29 and Sunday May 1, and continuing every Saturday and Sunday in May, with the exception of Mother's Day.
An original or certified birth certificate from the town or city is needed and shall be returned when all team member comply. Players born between August 1, 1986 thru July 31, 1989 are eligible. There is a registration fee and a parental signature form for your parent to sign before a uniform is issued.

Westwood Youth Hockey Registration
All prospective Westwood and Dover Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee & Bantam youth hockey players are requested to register for the 2005-2006 season at this time. Learn to Skate and House League Players are not required to register until the Fall. All players interested in our travel teams will be required to tryout if you did not play Westwood Youth Hockey last season. Players who do not register on time will not be guaranteed a spot on a team at any later date. Baseball Players Wanted
The Hyde Park Bluefish Baseball Club is actively looking for new players at all positions. The team will be a new franchise in the Yawkey Baseball League in Boston in 2005, and makes its home at Ross Field in Hyde Park.
The Yawkey Baseball League in Boston is Boston's premiere amateur baseball program, made up of 17 teams this year, playing a 32-game schedule as it was meant to be played with wood bats. It was named in honor of baseball Hall of Famer Tom Yawkey. The affiliation with the Yawkey family and the Boston Red Sox has brought many benefits over the years. The league plays an All Star Game at Fenway Park each summer, and the Yawkey Foundation-Boston Trust is a major financial contributor.
The team is looking for experienced players who have played at least at the Legion baseball level, but preferably current and former college players.
