Cool Summer Camps for Kids

New York City, NY, USA  (2008-05-16)

Veteran travel and adventure journalist Stephen Regenold, who’s covered everything from luxury eco resorts to the best US whitewater rides, to climbing walls of ice in the Lake Superior region, set his sites on American specialty camps in Cool Summer Camps for Kids. In this May 2008 ForbesTraveler.com article, Regenold was impressed with the comprehensiveness of MySummerCamps.com.

Pali Adventures’ Secret Agent Camp and its Fashion Design Institute also caught the attention of the intrepid reporter, as did Park City, Utah’s, Learn to Fly Camp, Musiker Discovery’s College Discovery Program, and French Woods - a performing arts camp.

Also noted was rock guitar camp, Camp Jam in Chicago, the Florida Keys’ scuba specialist Seacamp, and the international teen tour company - Travel for Teens.

These eight camps exemplified the spirit of specialty camps for Regenold, although his reference to the growing numbers of new offerings amount to an increasing trend in the summer camp industry.

"If your kid can dream it up, that camp is probably out there," says Evan Heltay, president of MySummerCamps.com, a directory with descriptions of more than 18,000 summer camps in 60 countries. "We’ve seen new camps for subjects as obscure as robotics and marine sciences."

The article was syndicated by the NBC affiliate WRCB-TV in Chattanooga,TN.
