SUMMER CAMPS

Pocatello, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, ID, USA  (2005-04-15)

NBC– KPVI/DT 23 – Idaho

Despite the snow we had Wednesday, summer is just around the corner. It’s time to start thinking about some fun summer activities for your kids. Elyse Peterson shows us how to find the right summer camp.

It may feel like summer is a long time away, but now is the perfect time to start selecting a summer camp program that will give you and your child something to look forward to. From Girl or Boy Scout camps to church camps, athletic camps, and camps for those with special needs, you can find one that will fit your needs.

Jana Peterson, editor of Family Living magazine, believes summer camps provide kids with life skills.

"Research is the most important thing. Check out the camp, what they do, make sure it’s a good fit for your child."

And don’t forget - day camps are a great way to help those kids who have never been away from home. Most importantly, encourage your child to have fun and explore new ideas. But don’t just take my word for it.

"Parents should just sign their kids up. It’s lots of fun."

If you have questions on a specific camp, you can log on to MySummerCamps.com. Prices and duration for each camp vary.
