In response to a changing world, the Boca Museum of Art School proudly announces our Summer Sessions program for grade school children and teens. Your child will be immersed in various creative environments where they will learn to express themselves in new ways. Our school approaches art as a way for your children to rethink the world around them by learning various professional observation and communication skills by encouraging them to focus their imagination through fun and colorful projects in our safe, supportive studios.

All sessions are led by our impressive roster of credentialed and award winning art faculty. A broad variety of drawing, painting, character & jewelry design, even handmade journal making and cartooning classes are available, so there’s something for everyone and all skill levels will feel welcome. In our new abbreviated summer format, morning and afternoon sessions are available on a weekly basis to fit into your busy life.

ART SCHOOL SAFETY PROCEDURES

We are committed to the health and safety of our students, staff, and volunteers. In consideration of all participating the Boca Museum Art School will follow current guidelines set by the governor of the State of Florida and local authorities.

TRUE COLORS IN NATURE

WEEK 1 (JULY 6-10)

Students will learn to identify color terms, color theory and learn how to blend, tint and shade with colors and  to explore the world of color in nature. In addition, students will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of materials and media. Students will be guided on individual projects.

CARTOONING AND ANIME

WEEK 2 (JULY 13-17)

Students will develop their own original hero, villain characters, and creatures all while learning the secrets of your favorite master cartoonists. The class will explores many different styles such as superheroes, comic book, manga, anime, and then create a full story of action or suspense from the beginning, middle, and end. Students will also explore narrative elements, such as point of view, character expressions, and environments.

ANIMAL EXPLORATION

WEEK 3 (JULY 20-24)

This week is all about animals and their habitats. Create one of a kind pieces of artwork limited only by your imagination. Be inspired by an existing critter and the place they call home or have fun creating your own.

DRAWESOME! (ALL ABOUT DRAWING)

WEEK 4 (JULY 27-30)

Students will use pencils, pens, ink and charcoal to create their “masterpieces”. Texture, composition and lighting will be introduced.

MIXED MEDIA MANIA

WEEK 5 (AUGUST 3-7)

Some artists are known for using unconventional materials in exciting combinations, and in this class, we will too! Make room for media that goes beyond paint on a canvas. We will bring found objects and recycled materials to life by transforming them into beautiful works of art and develop a creative, resourceful way of looking at and protecting our world.

WEEK 6 (AUGUST 10-14)

Discover the techniques of master artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Klimt and more. This is a fun introduction to the wonderful world of art for the naturally curious, creative young artist. The students will create unique works of art incorporating the styles and techniques used by many great artists throughout history.

INSPIRED BY THE MASTERS

WEEK 3 (JULY 20-24)

Discover the mediums and techniques of master artists such as Dali, Matisse, Monet and Picasso. This class is a fun introduction to the wonderful world of art for the naturally curious and creative young artist. This class will allow children to experience the styles and techniques used by “The Masters”. Students will learn art vocabulary and develop art making skills through discussion and hands-on activities with a variety of media for drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fibers and more!

3D ART ADVENTURE

WEEK 4 (JULY 27-30)

Students will learn techniques for constructing sculptures with a variety of fun materials while exploring the basic elements of art: color, form, line, shape, space, texture, and value. Proportion and balance will also be addressed throughout the week as students create unique finished pieces.

THE ART OF PRINTMAKING

WEEK 5 (AUGUST 3-7)

Students will learn the fun of printmaking and  what  involves to create a beautiful art piece.  Using a master plate from  or different types of printmaking tools, like stencils, stamps, natural resources, leaves, sticks, dry petals, students will enjoy the process of working on their own ideas and learning this beautiful art technique.

TAKE A WALK ON THE GREEN SIDE (RECYCLE WEEK)

WEEK 6 (AUGUST 10-14)

This week we will unleash the power of transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. Get ready to make room for media that goes beyond paint on canvas by bringing found objects and recycled materials to life. These items will be transformed into beautiful works of art while developing a creative, resourceful way of looking at and protecting our world.
