This is a general interest program for youth who have a personal interest in dogs and dog training. Participants will learn how C.O.P.E. service dogs are trained. They will learn service dog training theories and hands-on training practices in the classroom and on a field trip. Participants will work with C.O.P.E. service dogs-in-training. Participants will gain: dog management and dog training skills; knowledge in basic canine health care; human management skills; an understanding of parenting skills; presentation, instructing and coaching skills; self-confidence; self-esteem; leadership skills and improved hand-eye coordination.
