GENERAL CAMP INFORMATION
Camp Cayuga is a private coed residential summer camp for children ages 6 to 16.  The camp is located on a secluded 350-acre estate in the Pocono Mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania, just outside the village of Honesdale.  It’s less than a 3-hour drive from New York City and Philadelphia.

QUALITY & EXPERIENCE
Camp Cayuga was purchased in 1962 by Mike Buynak, who turned over the full-time directorship in 1983 to his son, Brian.  The Buynaks have owned & operated summer camps since 1957 and have earned a fine reputation over 60 years for providing healthy, safe, fun-filled summers for children!  Cayuga is an ACA accredited camp and has exceeded all standards set for safety, personnel, and program.

GUARANTEE TO FIRST-TIME CAMPERS
Everyone has fun at Camp Cayuga - that’s our promise to you!  We specialize in first-time campers and back-up our promise with “Cayuga’s First-Time Camper Guarantee”. Our guarantee provides for a full prorated tuition refund to any first-time camper departing prior to the conclusion of his or her registered session. That is, we will refund the excess of tuition after deducting the ordinary charges for the period your child remained in camp.  That's a promise!

SEPARATE TEEN CAMPUS
Cayuga’s property is divided into 2 campuses.  With two separate campuses, we can provide two separate programs geared to the different age groups on each campus.  Teen Campus houses campers entering 8th to 11th grade who are 13 years old (or older).  Teen Campus is reserved exclusively for teenagers.  Junior Campus houses campers entering 1st to 8th grade who are 13 years old or younger.  Campers entering 8th grade, who are 13 years of age before arrival, have the option to reside on either campus.

CREATE YOUR OWN ACTIVITY SCHEDULE
Cayuga’s Elective Program provides campers the opportunity to explore their individual interests and pursue those interests he/she finds most challenging.  Campers, who are entering 5th grade & higher, select their activities each morning after breakfast.  Campers sign-up with their friends, and can plan their activity schedules together.  Over 60 activities are offered every day!

JUNIOR DIVISION ACTIVITY SCHEDULE
Campers, who are entering 4th grade & lower, participate in the Junior Activity Program.  Each Junior cabin is provided with its own weekly activity schedule, which is geared to the age and gender of the cabin group. The schedule is different each day of the week!  Campers travel together as a "cabin group" to activities under the direct supervision of their counselors.

ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
The camper population is limited to 390 campers.  To register your child at Cayuga, complete the online camper enrollment application or the hard-copy application.  Cayuga offers 2, 4, 6, 8-week sessions.  Sibling credits and "early registration" discounts are available.  Diversity and nonrepetition of the program are two guidelines we use in planning the summer's Calendar of Events.

CAYUGA'S STAFF
Our success is directly related to the quality of our staff, who are dedicated to providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment for our campers.  Each camper is under the close care and direct supervision of at least 2 cabin counselors.  Our youngest counselor is entering sophomore year of college.  The camp staff is comprised of 135 counselors and over 40 senior staff, who assist our counselors and supervise various areas of the camp's program.  Our senior staff are professional educators, teachers, nurses, and coaches.  The staff/camper ratio is better than 1 to 4.  We stand ready to work with your child on a one-to-one basis to make his/her summer camp experience a positive one!  For information about employment opportunities, visit the Job Section on our website.

I worked at Camp Cayuga in both summers 2019 and 2020 as a Camp Counselor on Main Campus. In just two summers I can truly say this place feels like my home away from home. The camaraderie and fellowship offered at camp between not only the staff but the entire campus is stunning. Camp Cayuga has given me an opportunity to influence the lives of kids in a positive way and give them an unforgettable summer while also offering me the best summers ever. It truly is the best of both worlds and I will forever be grateful for the friendships I've made and the impact camp has had in my life.

My son is pretty much a "Summer Camp Critic"....he's a hard grader and has attended numerous camps over the years including academic, sport, recreational, day camps, sleep away camps etc. This is the "FIRST" time that he actually requested to return to a camp and gave a camp glowing reviews!! He attended Camp Cayuga in summer 2017 for two weeks and requested to return summer 2018 for four weeks! He absolutely loves it. He loves the freedom of choice and there are many activity choices. He loves the camaraderie with his cabin buddies and counselors and he returns home each summer more relaxed and mature. It's really a wonderful experience for kids and allows them to connect with nature and the outdoors while disconnecting from phones, internet & social media. Food quality can improve a bit (especially breakfast). But despite this issue, the camp still gets a 5-star rating in our book!! Greer Family

I attended Cayuga as a child and loved it (early 90s). I was so excited to share Cayuga with my daughters this past summer and they also had the time of their lives. They are counting down the days til summer 2018! Horses! Trapeze! a lake! So much to love.

My girls started here at ages 7 and 8 and now they are headed into their 3rd summer. The both go for 6 weeks but want to go longer. The staff is amazing. The counselors care about the kids and the front office is always helpful and accommodating. Without a doubt I would recommend this camp to any kid...well only if they want the best summers of their life

My son dreams of going back as soon as we leave. He even hopes to be a CIT and then Counselor one day. I am proud of his commitment to a place that has given him so many valuable lessons, important friendships and lasting memories.

My two teenage sons attended Camp Cayuga the last two summers. It has been a wonderful experience for them. The counselors have been great and there are so many activities to choose from the kids are never bored. The evening entertainment programs are creative and fun. The whole camp atmosphere is all-inclusive. The team leaders are great and really get to know the kids. Felt so comfortable leaving them there for the session. Really, so happy we found Camp Cayuga! Year after year, for 8 summers now, I've watched kids and teens grow as a result of their summer experiences at Camp Cayuga. AND, they've had incredible fun too! Each summer, it's obvious they have grown and matured. When your child attends summer camp, he learns how to work with others, build meaningful relationships, accept guidance and develop decision-making skills. AND, have fun! Camp Cayuga was the BEST decision I ever made for our family, and I highly recommend Cayuga to parents on a regular basis. AND, did I mention fun? Oh, the fun times we all have all summer long! Looking forward to 2017 Summer #9 #CampCayugaBESTsummerEVER #321NilesPondRd

Best in the business! Safe, fun, and professional! Highest of praise for the camp and its staff! Summer = Camp Cayuga = Home! You will make friends that will last a lifetime!

Awesome place for children to experience nature, get used to living in a community and learn a whole variety of skills. Lot of programs to choose in a stunning environment, experienced counselors and activity instructors.

As a former Cayuga camper myself this was my first choice when researching camps for my children, I was thrilled to see that over the years it has only gotten better! Cayuga has been owned and run by the same family for years, the owner has a love of giving kids an amazing summer camp experience and is always adding new activities to the wide variety of activities they offer. From onsite horseback riding at no extra charge to trapeze, they have it all covered. They also offer both pool and lake and a free choice program that my kids love. My son can't wait for his 3rd summer and my daughter for her 2nd...they are creating the same life long friendships and experiences that I did so many years ago!

My daughter has been attending Cayuga for the past five summers. She gets homesick every year and every year the Division Directors and counselors work with her to help her adjust. The personal attention given by the staff can't be beat. The kids are nice and the variety of activities are plentiful.

5

Have had my children attend camp here for years. It has been a very positive and growing experience for them. I have always found the atmosphere positive and would not hesitate to recommend to my friends.

5

Cayuga is my home away from home, it will always hold a special place in my heart and when I have my own kids I cannot wait to take them for the summer so they can share the love I have for this place!

5

I worked there one summer and brought my 10yr old granddaughter. Both us absolutely loved this camp! So much to do! Different activities every day, kept her active and happy all day. The experiences she got from Cayuga she would never have been able to do anywhere else. Her all time favorite was learning the trapeze and of course all the activities at the lake. As a grandmother and a nurse it was a very safe place to be, which is every parents first concern.I would go back again if my job allowed me off all summer. She'd be packed now to go in June. We both made a lot of great friends there.

Anti-Semitism Tolerated Initially, I thought I had found a reasonably priced coed camp with some nice perks including horseback riding at no additional cost and day trips to baseball games of Yankee farm team. However, once the kids were home from their first summer I started to become concerned about a number of issues, including lax attention by nursing staff, poor communication when issues came up while kids were at camp, disparate treatment of campers who were children of staff and most alarmingly a tolerance for anti-semitism. Considering a large percentage of paying campers come from Jewish families I found it difficult to believe that the owner would allow any anti-semitism and was sure the issues would be promptly addressed once brought to his attention. Unfortunately, my confidence was misplaced and the owner tolerated comments by staff member's child who was camper such as "I like that Jewish kids wear yamakas because I know who to avoid." I will not allow my children to return.
