At Camp Maple Leaf our summer season is broken down into seven 1-week sessions. During that time we aim to offer a summer camp experience to children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend camp. We offer a fun, safe and enjoyable atmosphere for children from across Southern Ontario. Our summer program activities include:
# Camp Craft/Nature
# Arts and Crafts
Our adventure based program fosters communication, co-operation, trust and teamwork. Children begin their week by working through a series of games to help them familiarize themselves with their new surroundings and the other members of their cabin. As the week progresses campers are given an opportunity to challenge themselves on a twenty five element high and low challenge course, as well as on our climbing wall.
Leaders in Training Program
Our Leaders-in-Training program, which takes place at a separate site is also capable of holding 8 campers, aged 14 and 15. These campers spend two weeks in a site that consists of 3 prospector tents and a kitchen area. During their two week session the LIT’s prepare their own meals, learn canoeing skills (to be put to use during their six-day canoe trip) and take part in our adventure program. This experience is a stepping stone to help these youth learn valuable leadership skills that will help them should they decide to become a Counselor-in-Training.
Counselors in Training Program
Our Counsellor-in-Training program is a five week program for 16 year olds. The program begins with a week long canoe trip, followed by four weeks of working with counselors in a cabin setting. These four weeks of shadowing allow for the CIT’s to pick up valuable experience before they become a member of our staff team.
