Camp Mountain Chai is a Jewish resident camp located in the San Bernardino Mountains. We help campers entering grades 2 through 10 gain personal independence, build self-confidence, make new friends and of course, have fun. Our Judaic program focuses on culture, heritage, culture as well as creative religious Shabbat observance.

Campers enjoy five activity periods per day. Two of the activity periods are Chugim or elective activity periods, where campers select from a list of our regular activities. The other three activity periods are cabin periods. The mix allows for great cabin bonding, with the opportunity to make friends with age groups throughout the camp.

Our special all camp days and events include the 4th of July Carnival and CHAI'dol, CMC's song and dance competition first session. Maccabiah, our two day thrilling and suspenseful color war competition is a camp favorite and staple of our second session. Embassy, our all camp capture the flag puzzle game is a mainstay of third session. No matter the session, your children will have enough memories to last a lifetime!

Our program features a 40 foot climbing tower, ropes course,  nature, archery, ceramics, arts and crafts, drama, dance, swimming , canoeing, and much more. We have weekly all camp BBQs.
All of our campers enjoy at least one night overnight trips out of camp. Campers entering 8th grade spend 2 nights out of camp, taking time during the full day to perform community service. Our ATID campers (oldest campers, entering 9th & 10th grade) spend 3, 4 or 5 days out of camp on an unforgettable ATID leadership trip. Trips vary from year to year and include the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Yosemite, Catalina Island and Coloma.

For campers entering 11th grade, we offer Kavanah, a one-of-a-kind 5 week service trip, that is meaningful, educational and fun.

Our SIT program is offered for campers entering 12th grade, and is a 7 week period designed to prepare our SIT’s to be effective and meaningful camp counselors.

Our kitchen is kosher. A salad bar is available at lunch and dinner. Cabins are heated and include bathrooms and showers.

Camp Mountain Chai is a JCC Association Camp.
