Each of our age groups will focus on the follow areas and be based on the player's ability.
Power Skating: Forward and backward stride, stopping, and starting. Learn to use your edges while turning, doing mohawk turns, pivoting, and cross-overs. We will focus on agility and balance to increase speed through your stride. Parachute training will be incorporated as well.
Stick handling/Puck control/Puck Protection: Focus on rolling wrists and positioning your hands properly. Keeping your feet moving to shield opponents from puck. Stick fake maneuvers and small game orientated stations with emphasis on keeping puck tight in confined areas and learn the power of peripheral vision.
Passing: Forehand, backhand, catch-release, saucer, flip, indirect, one-touch. How to lead your teammate, moving feet to open options, pass in traffic, and under pressure.
Shooting-Goal Scoring: Wrist, snap, backhand, slap shot, one-timer, quick release tips, wrap around, changing your angle, position yourself properly/attacking net/positioning at net. How to generate stick speed.
Positional play: Learn how to defend, using your stick positioning, angling, containing, separating. The situations of 1-1s, 2-1s, 2-2s, 3-2s and Tracking
Team Play: Entries, cycling, and fore checking. Defensive Zone Coverage positioning and break-outs, Neutral Zone transition supporting the puck.
