Child's Play NY offers an enriching and lively array of summer intensives for students age 4-10 with an interest in the performing arts. Young people explore and perform theater together, and in so doing build confidence, compassion and creativity.
For ages 6-10, the unique focus of each weekly session allows for a concentrated immersion in various specialties: Campers can sample what inspires them the most. "Acting for the Camera", "Let's Make a Musical" and "Shakespeare Players" are just some of the exciting focuses. The work culminates in a performance where campers get to share all that they have accomplished.
For ages 4-6, "Story Play" is offered every week throughout the summer. Campers build characters and create stories together by tapping into their own intuitive ability for fantasy play. Children's literature provides the springboard for their own stories while they are taught the fundamentals of acting.
