Cyber Defense Training Camp is an intermediate level * 7 day summer program for high school men and women (rising juniors and seniors). You will live on campus for one week (Sunday-Saturday) at the University of Maryland, College Park and expand your knowledge of cybersecurity. Students learn about these fields, visit local sites and hear from a variety of speakers to learn more about the skills needed for this exciting profession. *Technical experience is recommended, including networking, Cisco Academy, and/or Java programming. Topics include
- Operating Systems
- System Administration
- Guest speakers, Field trip, Cyber defense exercise, and Computer-based "Capture-the-flag" competition at the end of the week.
You will have the opportunity to live in a residence hall on the College Park campus for the week. By living in a residence hall during the week, you will truly experience what it is like to be a college student by living among your fellow participants, and eating at campus dining facilities. Undergraduate students will serve as camp counselors to manage the residential area. They are committed to making your camp experience memorable and enjoyable. The camp counselors live with you in the residence hall and help to create a community atmosphere. There will be separation between male and female participants in the residence halls.
The cost of the program is $1000. This fee covers all expenses except transportation to and from the University of Maryland at the start and finish of the program and optional spending money. Please do not include the fee at the time of application. The fee is due upon acceptance to the program.
