Forensic Science is the meeting point of chemistry, biology and physics for crime scene investigation. Sents will learn techniques that forensic scientists use to determine what took place when crimes were committed. This camp will delve into the history of crime scene investigation utilizing experiments and applications of logic to practical questions. To solve these cases, campers will apply the basic principles of forensic science: recognizing and identifying a problem, collecting data through observation and experimentation, formulating and testing hypotheses. Some of the activities that campers will be exposed to include blood typing, blood splatter analysis, latent finger printing (dusting), tool and shoe impressions, fiber and hair analysis. To enhance their understanding even more, local law enforcement officers and other guest speakers will share insights into the true nature and application of forensic science. In the culminating activity, campers will have an opportunity to analyze a staged crime scene to determine “Who done it”.
