Easter Seals Camp Fairlee is located on 250 rural acres on Maryland's historic upper eastern shore, and just across the Chesapeake Bay from Baltimore. The purpose of the camp is to provide a superior, accessible, recreational experience to children and adults with ALL types of cognitive or physical disabilities, while at the same time providing a time of rest or respite to families and caregivers.
Services include traditional, residential overnight summer camp, weekend respite services during the off season, and interesting travel trips for adults over 18. Summer camp runs June - August and offers different experiences. The traditional six day session offers a lot of exciting daily activities including swimming, canoeing, horseback riding, high and low ropes, nature trails, wall climbing, zip line, arts/crafts, outdoor sports and games and more! Some campers chose the "wilderness" camp option and sleep under the stars or in a screened cabin, while most chose to stay in one of the brand new cabins with AC. Another option is "daily adventure" where every day the campers travel to a point of interest such as state parks, zoos, resort beaches, historic places, and so forth. There are two weeks each summer just for children with Autism, where each child has an assigned trained counselor for the week. There are also 5 day sessions and 12 day sessions.
Health and safety are very important, and there is a nurse(s) on staff 24/7 when camp is in session to handle meds and medical needs. A physician must sign a medical release for a camper to attend, and first time campers and caregivers will interview with camp staff to learn about a campers needs and medical history. A physician is on call 24/7 and there is a nearby hospital.
In 2015 the entire facility was completely rebuilt with all new cabins, a 12,000 square foot activity center and gymnasium, dining hall and health center. There is also a large swimming pool.
Camp Fairlee is perfect for children and adults with Autism, Developmental Disabilities, Cognitive Disabilities, Muscular Dystrophy, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other physical conditions and disabilities
Camp Fairlee is owned and operated by Easter Seals Delaware & Maryland's Eastern Shore, and has been in service since 1954 and is accreditated by the American Camp Association.
