We gear our horse camps towards showing youth riders what a typical day at the barn would be and what it would be like to own your own horse and the responsibility involved with animal care. During horse camp, we teach the kids how to properly care for the horses on a day to day basis. We begin each morning with feeding the horses, explaining the types of feed and supplements, barn chores, grooming, proper saddling, explain the differences in the tack (English versus Western), proper horse handling, we also have crafts and games that help them to learn breeds, colors, anatomy. We may also have vet and farrier demos. The day provides lots of hands on learning on how to care for a horse! During camp they ride saddled and usually bareback for balance exercises as well. We also teach them the basics of groundwork and horse handling skills that are essential for being safe around horses.
