Kennolyn Camps

Kennolyn Camps has a 67 year history, working with kids to rediscover their natural friend-making and social skills. There is a 1 night campout each week. Each cabin hikes out to a specific destination, collects firewood, builds a fire, and cooks dinner. Campers sleep under the stars and enjoy a day of hiking and exploration on 300 acres of Redwood Forest the following day. At Kennolyn Camps, campers develop confidence and social skills, evident by the progress they make in their activities and the way in which they show respect, patience and genuine happiness with their fellow camp friends. Campers can also participate in nighttime activities. Campfire is the most popular, but campers also participate in dances, movie nights, counselor dress up and safari hunts. A healthy mix of returning campers and new campers each year makes camp a great place to make new friends. There is a 3:1 ratio of campers to staff. Every year, approximately 60% of the very best staff returns to Kennolyn Camp from the year before. However, there is also a healthy mixture of new staff to learn from the excellent returning staff and continue Kennolyn Camp’s tradition of excellence in camping. Kennolyn has a long history. The Camp Director has served 27 years, Program Director- 13 years, Day Camp Director-13 years, Assistant Director- 6 years, Parent Relations Coordinator -50+ years. In addition to their extensive Kennolyn experience, the Day Camp and Assistant Directors have 10+ years experience as school teachers. Every staff member must have completed at least 1 year of college, and many of them are graduating with degrees in education or childhood development. Kennolyn camp is for everyone! There is no ‘right’ age to be a successful camper, as long as everyone is having fun!

Kennolyn has been family owned and operated since 1946 and is dedicated to offering boys and girls the very best summer camp experience. Kennolyn's 300 acres of California Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains overlooking Monterey Bay transports campers to another world when in fact they are only ninety miles away from San Francisco. Campers of all ages experience a sense of belonging, are given the chance to be independent, discover new skills, and meet wonderful friends and role models.
