LONE STAR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
“Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders”

The Lone Star Leadership Academy is a hands-on learning leadership development program where outstanding young leaders flourish! Now in our 12th year, more than 7,000 participants have developed leadership skills and learned about the great state of Texas through visits to significant Texas sites during spring break and summer Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin/San Antonio and Houston/Galveston programs.

LONE STAR LEADERSHIP ACADEMY PARTICIPANTS:
Experience historically,politically and environmentally significant Texas sites with other outstanding students
Learn about the great state of Texas
Develop leadership skills
Add to their academic resume
Make new friends
Learn about unique careers
Develop creativity and problem-solving abilities during daily simulations
Participate in Leadership Groups
Hone leadership skills with the Leadership Skill of the day

PROGRAM INCLUSIONS:
Lodging for five nights in supervised, air-conditioned, group bunk dormitory
All meals Sunday dinner through Friday lunch
Charter bus transportation throughout the program
All excursions including entrance fees
10 to 1 student-facilitator ratio - All facilitators are educators.
24 hour supervision
Interactive, hands-on, higher-level thinking curriculum
Program t-shirt provided each day

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintain an 85 or higher average
Educator recommendation based on demonstrated leadership ability
Involvement in school and/or community activities
ALUMNI PROGRAM:
Lone Star Leadership Academy alumni are invited to join the Lone Star Youth Leadership Council. Members continue leadership development during school year by creating and leading a community service project. Members may return on Lone Star Leadership Academy programs as youth facilitators.
ADDITIONAL INFO:
Airport shuttle service available for each program location
Round-trip charter bus transportation from Dallas/Fort Worth available to the Austin/San Antonio and Houston/Galveston programs
