This is a basic camp listing: no contact information is provided.
A co-ed, traditional sleepaway camp for kids age 7 to 16, uniquely located on a 900-acre ranch in the Sierras north of Lake Tahoe and a 1.5 hours drive northwest of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. Family-owned and operated since 1956, our limited enrollment and our tech-free policy allow for a more personal camp experience and family-like feel that bring all of the camp family together.
At MMR, campers experience more than the fun and activities that are a given of the camp experience, but also personal growth in self-confidence and character, fostering new friendships and memorable experiences that last a lifetime. Our entire program is centered around the principles of servant leadership and our guiding values that we weave throughout the camp experience: inclusivity, empathy, stewardship, integrity, authenticity, and mindfulness.
A day at MMR is organized but not regimented and fosters spontaneity. Campers choose activities 2-4x daily, with weekends and evening activities devoted to camp-wide activities that bring the entire camp family together.

I can't say enough good things about this camp and its staff. My son had never gone to camp before because he suffered from extreme anxiety. When we felt it was time (and old enough) to tackle being in a strange environment around a lot of kids he didn't know, I looked long and hard for a camp. After much searching I found Mountain Meadows which seemed like a great choice for him, in part because kids get to choose the activities they participate in. The camp is run by a family just like one big family. It's a terrific environment. If you go to their website, or view their videos on You Tube, what you see is really what it is like there. These are not just promotional materials, but terrific videos that show the campers, including our son, doing all of the camp activities. We could see him smiling in the company of other kids, something we don't get to see much of at home. Our son had a great time, and at his request we allowed him to stay for a second 2 week session. He had lots of fun, but he also came back more confident and with higher self esteem.
