SeaTrek BVI

Both of our kids did SeaTrek BVI for three summers, and had amazing experiences. They received extensive training from amazing instructors that led to their receiving multiple NAUI certifications, and to their being skilled and experienced SCUBA divers. They were able to see up close, and come to appreciate more fully, the plethora of underwater wildlife with which the BVI is blessed. They also made great friendships, many of which have continued to this day. The trip is not a cushy luxury cruise; the kids are responsible for preparing meals, keeping the boats organized and clean, and assisting with the sailing. They really enjoyed the work and the camraderie. My wife and I got a taste of the SeaTrek experience this past winter when we took a trip to the BVI organized by Captain Monk so that we could get certified and dive with our kids. Captain Farva, who our kids knew well, was an amazing instructor; incredibly skilled, thorough and knowledgeable. We had a memorable trip; the first of what we hope will be many.

Through seatrek I have gained a sense of adventure, independence and maturity I would not have developed otherwise. Through their marine science program, I have also developed a profound understanding, curiosity, and appreciation for the marine environment. The advice I would give about seatrek? Go! I promise you it is as if not more amazing than it sounds.

I firmly believe that I would not be the same person today had I never attended this camp. Over a span of four years, Seatrek grew from a summer camp into my happy place, job and second home. My summers spent down­island have shaped me into a more diligent, grateful and strong young woman. I could not be more thankful for this institution and my fellow staff members.

My son was a bit reluctant to go by himself; however he was interested in the underworld so he took a leap of faith. It was certainly a life changing experience for him. I think that he accomplished so many things over the course of three weeks that his confidence and independence really took root. I also this he realized his experiences would influence his entire life. He was so proud when his scuba certifications arrived in the mail and still loves sharing his experience months laters with adults and his friends, especially the 500 photos that were developed. The fact that he called from his excursion to ask to go back next year tells the entire story. His favorite person from the trip was the counselor who travelled the world scuba diving. Remember this was someone who was on the fence about going and definitely thought he would be missing out all summer hanging out with his friends.

SeaTrek is one of the best camps I have ever gone to! Between the location, scuba diving, and staff, it is an all-around excellent summer camp for anyone interested in sailing, diving, and/or marine science.

Going to SeaTrek as a young marine enthusiast was a massive positive for me as SeaTrek gave me the ability to expand my horizons not only underwater with different scuba qualifications but above water activities such as sailing and water sports. To be able to achieve the varying levels of scuba qualifications that were on offer in such a stunning location was a decision that I've never looked back on and one that I am thankful that I made. I've met the most amazing staff and students that I still talk to 6 years later after my first summer at SeaTrek. Seeing how students' softer skills of interacting and communicating improves as their time at SeaTrek goes along is a beautiful thing that I've very rarely seen elsewhere. You don't just go home with a tan, but with a smile on your face and a need to go back next summer!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this program. They sail island to island, hike every day, scuba dive multiple times a day, fish, do water sports, tag sea turtles, learn independence, laugh and have a great time! My daughter has been attending SeaTrek camps since she was 12 in the BVI and the Bahamas. She got her Scuba certification through the program year 1 and multiple certifications after that. She has raved about her experiences every year. She loves all of the counselors and Captains as well. I don’t hesitate to recommend this program to anyone.

I absolutely love SeaTrek! It is an amazing experience on that is once in a lifetime. This camp has campers be the crew on a real boat. They tie knots, cleats, and even set sail! It is a remarkable adventure. You cook, clean, and dive every day. So buy the time they come back they will be pros and can clean the head(bathroom on a boat). I most of all enjoy the experience that the camper will have with him/her for the rest of their life. The friendship that you make in just a couple days that will last a lifetime is remarkable. I talk all the time to my friends from my voyages. It is a place to unplug from the world and figure out who you are away from your school and friends that you have grown up with. It is a chance to create the you that you want everyone to know. This can lead to amazing things in the campers future after SeaTrek!

I have worked at SeaTrek BVI for over 10 years and have seen the transformative power of their programs for young people. SeaTrek is about way more than scuba diving, sailing and marine science - it's about personal growth, adventure, community and pursuing your dreams!

Amazing Experience. My 12 year old daughter had a fantastic time with SeaTrek BVI. Camps are all pretty pricey these days, so I wanted to know that, for the same price as many other camps, my daughter would have the experience of a lifetime . She received her SCUBA certification and spent time with a really nice group of kids exploring beautiful places. She went on night dives, wreck dives and saw incredible marine life. I was very happy with our decision to send her to this camp. If you look at the photos posted on Facebook, you will see how truly awesome the experience is.

The past four years have been the most memorable to me and it has been because of SeaTrek. The program takes students on a remarkable journey exploring the British Virgin Islands, the excitement of scuba diving and sailing, and most importantly the exploration of one’s self. I have been with the program for four years and the staff has helped me to grow as an individual through my years as a student and an intern. SeaTrek is my home away from home and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to attend and have worked for this incredible program. Thanks to the staff and the entire program, my life has a new passion and direction and I highly recommend SeaTrek to anyone who is ready to learn about themselves and explore new worlds. I can't even explain how much my kids have enjoyed and learned from this program. My daughter started in the summer of 2013 and then both kids went in the summer of 2014. My son will go again this summer for 3 weeks and my daughter will go for 7 weeks as an intern. This is truly one of the best run "camp" adventures out there. I'm pretty sure all first-time parents get a little worried about sending their precious children off so far away for that period of time. However, I can promise you that the SeaTrek staff will go to great lengths to ensure the safety and well-being of your kids. I would no more think twice about sending either one of mine down there than I would sending them to the grocery store around the corner. Not only do the kids get to enjoy their beautiful surroundings, but they also learn more about life than they ever could at a traditional land-based camp. To be honest, the information about our oceans & environment that my kids have brought home has taught me a lot. These kids don't even realize they're learning so much. Without a doubt, SeaTrek camps have been the BEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE! I attended SeaTrek for two summers learned so much, made so many friends, and gained valuable skills. The camps also helped me affirm that I should pursue my dream of a career in marine science, and gave me an introduction as to what that kind of career would be like. Oh, and besides preparing me for my future career, did I mention that SeaTrek was just all around FUN? I couldn't have asked for a better summer camp, and I can't think of a single criticism of Sea Trek and its amazing staff.

I have attended SeaTrek for two summers and I loved every single second of it. Going down to the Islands for the first time by myself was a very scary experience, and I was very nervous when I finally had to leave. However, as soon as I got down there and began meeting the staff and fellow campers that I would spend the next few weeks with, I felt at home. Captain Monk and the rest of the staff do an excellent job of welcoming new students and making them feel like they are a returning member. Every day we follow a schedule whether that includes diving, classes, sailing, or just having free time on the beach. I cannot imagine spending my summers doing anything else other than SeaTrek. I promise you will not regret it.

I found out about Seatrek three years ago when my son mentioned he was interested in Marine Biology, he was 15 at the time. I checked out several programs but settled on Seatrek after reading some other reviews and talking to Captain Monk. I was really nervous as the time got nearer for him leave. I was worried about him flying by himself, going through customs, finding the crew members, not to mention being on a boat and diving for the first time. Seatrek was very detailed in their responses to all of the worries and how to properly prepare for his voyage. What a great experience he had!! There is tons of supervision on the entire trip, they take care to make sure everyone is kept safe. Each day is filled with instruction, fun, and learning new responsibilities. This year will be his third trip and my other sons second trip. My only regret is that I'm not young and can't go too!
