Summer Rowing Camps - Middletown, CT; UPenn; and Seattle, WA

Our five day summer camp is designed for rowers and coxswains who want to increase their level of awareness and ownership in the sport. It features excellent ratios and one on one coaching with top assistant and head collegiate or national team coaches and coxswains. There is a built-in coxswain development camp with a curriculum built by Olympians meant to enable coxswains to teach themselves once they return to their home program. We aim to educate and inspire athletes regarding their possibilities in the sport.

Coxswains Only Camp - Oklahoma City, OK

An advanced camp where coxswains are the exclusive focus. Sparks rents the facilities, equipment, and rowers for the camp – thus allowing us to focus on coaching coxswains through everything from docking to head racing turns during our time together. Our coxswain coaching philosophy is to give coxswains enough perspective to allow them to leave camp able to teach themselves through the coming season, and, as a result, the intellectual intensity of this camp (and the coxswains) is very high.

Rowing Training and Physiology Program – Philadelphia, PA

This is an advanced camp aimed at ambitious rowers who want to set strong rowing-specific goals and create a training program to achieve them. The program aims to to educate athletes on rowing specific strength and conditioning, encourage greater understanding, efficiency, and responsibility in their training, and develop the rowing community via educating athletes on training physiology. Participants receive six weeks worth of training programs for before and after the program designed to maximize 2k potential and work around summer schedules. And, unlike most rowing camps, there is no water component.

New Zealand Development Program

A five-week intensive training program aimed at providing athletes ownership of their rowing and an eye as to how it plays into their personal development. This program is for upperclassmen and rising college freshman. Athletes generally train ten times a week, perform community service once per week working with students with special needs, and go on at least one outing a week to experience New Zealand’s incredible landscape. This program has a selective application process and there are only 16 slots. The number is capped in order to better integrate rowers into Kiwi culture and maintain focus on the training.

New Zealand Adventure Program

A three week training program for curious athletes who want to improve their skills in small boats, experience New Zealand culture, and explore a beautiful country. Rowers train out of the Nelson Rowing Club in Nelson, the sunniest city in New Zealand. Rowers live and train with local Kiwi juniors while the juniors are on their winter holidays. While the Development Program is geared towards training, this program encourages better awareness of rowing and yourself.

Holland Small Boats Racing Program

A two week training program that culminates with the NRSF-SLOT regatta, the Dutch Junior National Regatta. The program is specifically designed for rowers who want to get more experience training and racing in small boats, and are mature enough to handle training abroad. Rowers are housed in home stays with Dutch families and will take a few excursions around the city during their time. There is an application process for this program and it is kept small to better integrate rowers into Dutch culture and maintain focus on the training.
