Students should have experience playing and reading music on violin, viola, cello or bass.
Open to students currently (’10-'11) in 3rd to 10th grades.
Orchestras at four playing levels rehearse and perform music from beginning to advanced levels (NYSSMA levels 1-6).
Fiddle classes learn traditional tunes from a variety of cultures by ear, often adding improvisation, singing, harmonies, choreography and unique arrangements.
Daily performances include the Summer Strings faculty orchestra, guest fiddle artists, and student fiddle and orchestra concerts.
Daily activities include Music Jeopardy, soccer, kickball, spud, water games, frisbee, indoor games, and once weekly, a community dance.
