NJCATE, A National Center for Advanced Technological Education, is pleased to announce TechXporation, the four-week summer camp where teen girls design, develop and construct a working model of a fairgrounds ride, visit a theme park to better understand how amusement park rides work, learn from women who are working in engineering fields, and practice Karate as an integral part of the summer camp.
The camp is intended for freshman teen girls and will take place during July, 2006, at the state-of-the-art Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics
and Engineering Technologies on the Middlesex County College Edison campus. The goal is to inspire and empower young women who are about to enter their sophomore year of high school with the knowledge, skills, confidence, academic preparation and interest that females need to aspire to engineering technology careers. Interested students should apply online at: http://www.njcate.org/tech-xploration/.
This project is supported by the National Science Foundation to address the under-representation of women in the technical workforce. There are no fees for TechXploration.
