This two-week camp is perfect for middle school students ages 10-14, who want to pursue their passion for theatre, build practical acting skills and learn how a musical show is produced and performed. Participants can expect to learn and have fun in a safe, creative environment where they can take risks, gain confidence and experience.
Students will participate in workshops and games to develop their acting and dance, musicianship, stage movement and voice skills. Then students will work as an ensemble to produce an adapted junior version of a Broadway musical. Experience all the components of a musical production, from audition through rehearsal process, blocking, tech runs, costuming and set production. The camp will conclude with the performance of the play on Friday June 28th.
The camp is held on the beautiful 515-acre campus of San Domenico School, and is directed by experienced teachers with professional theatre experience. Julianne Bretan is an award-winning actress in North Bay, most recently performing with The Mountain Play, Marin Musical Theatre Company and Novato Theater Company. Claire Neuner studied Theatre and Dance at the University of Texas where she worked on several productions both on-stage and back-stage. She has experience teaching theatre, speech and debate, and has worked professionally in theatre education, stage management and costuming. Bretan and Neuner both hold teaching positions at San Domenico School.
