The Carnegie Arts Center is a family-friendly attraction where the kids can take classes that will stimulate them and give them basic and enhanced arts skills. In the Art Start program, children ages 5 to 8 can learn about lines, shapes and colors, and can participate in a new project each month. The Art Studio program for ages 9 to 13 gives the kids a chance to experiment with new skills, or they can focus on a particular technique, like drawing or sculpture. If the parents want to join in the fun, the center offers a Brush and Ink class where adults can learn how to draw and paint flowers.
For the kids with an interest in sports and who enjoy being active, the Warrior Athletics Camps at Cal State Stanislaus has a variety of programs offered during the summer, and year round. Warrior Athletics Camps offers a boys summer basketball camp for ages 6 to 17 and a junior varsity summer league. You can enroll the children ages 5 to 12 in the All Sports Camp, which offers more than 16 sports. Boys and girls are grouped by age, size and ability, and they can try a sport they never participated in before. Some of the available activities include badminton, dodgeball, capture the flag, and hockey. More sports fun is available at the Premier Tennis Camps, which offers a summer tennis camp during June and July, with a Competitive Player Camp including drill sessions and match play.
Your young musicians will be delighted when they attend the Summer Music at Stanislaus program where they can take summer electives like music theory and ear training. Stanislaus offers camps for ages 6 to 12, with a variety of electives to choose from, including skills and technique electives like song writing and chamber music, or creative electives like musical theatre and drumming. The City of Turlock Recreation Center offers summer camps running from July to August, and holiday and school break camps where the kids can participate in indoor or outdoor activities.
Camp Taylor is a unique camp for children with heart disease, where a team of pediatric cardiac professionals spend time with the kids while they enjoy activities like horseback riding, swimming and rock wall. Both the teen camp and the youth camp include a dance night, themed parties, archery, and a camp skits and songs program.
Monte Vista Chapel is offering its second annual theatre camp for your kids in 4th grade through junior high. Your children can learn about auditioning techniques, costume design, and how to work with a cast, in a week long camp with a showcase at the end of the week.
