Hagerstown will delight your family with its variety of kid-friendly activities. See a model of the Titanic at Discovery Station, bounce around at Pump It Up, and discover a unique boat adventure at Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park.
Get ready to spend a day learning and exploring at Discovery Station. Kids can see a triceratops skull in the dinosaur exhibit, learn about space travel, and check out the intricacy of an engine. As you make your way through the exhibits, imagine what it would be like to fly an old airplane, be a third-class passenger aboard the Titanic, or wear Japanese clogs every day. A gallery created with young children in mind keeps little hands busy with interactive play and story book characters. Head to the museum for seasonal events and programming, as well as weekly story time.
Bounce to your heart's content during an open jump session at Pump It Up. Step onto one of the giant inflatables to jump, climb, and slide. Stop by for a morning jump session in your pajamas or, if you're a night owl, dress in white and jump at the glow in the dark session later in the day. To celebrate an active kid's special day, Pump It Up hosts birthday parties with themes like pirates or superheroes.
Find a new meaning to boat rides at Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. Step aboard a boat drawn by mules, and experience what it was like to live in the 1870s as you glide along the canal, with costumed park rangers telling the stories of the families that lived in the area centuries ago and answering your questions. Other activities at the park include a steam-powered boat ride complete with a lock demonstration and tour, walking and biking paths, and a Junior Ranger program. Kids can become a certified Junior Ranger by completing activities in the park, like wildlife bingo, writing your own canal song, and interviewing a park employee.
