Up the fun factor this summer in Royal Oak, Michigan. Get artistic at the Creative Arts Studio, spot wildlife at Detroit Zoo, or skate the day away at the John Lindell Ice Arena.

Plunge into the art world at the Creative Arts Studio. This do-it-yourself center features just about every type of art imaginable. Your kid will love to wet their hands with wheel-throwing, paint a piece of pottery, or fuse glass together. Summer art camps also feature mosaics, beading and wire projects, canvas painting, and a myriad of other arts and crafts. Kids can come in and make a wax sculpture of their hand with the studio's state-of-the-art technology.

Go for a wild adventure at the Detroit Zoo. No matter what kind of animals your children love, they will be sure to find a memorable encounter here. Climb the elevated viewing platform to feed a majestic giraffe, or watch a sloth chill out in its natural habitat. Check out the amazing Science on a Sphere, which uses video projectors and computers to animate a six foot-long globe. You can also ride the rails at the Tauber Family Railroad, catch a film at the 4D theater, and take a ride to a mysterious island. Any of these activities will awe your child.

Gear up for fun at the John Lindell Ice Arena. This chilly center offers all kinds of sports and activities for children and teenagers alike. Strap on some shin guards and try out for the hockey team, or learn to ice skate like Olympic gold medalist Sarah Hughes. The Heat & Freeze Theatrical Studio on Ice features performing skaters of all ages and abilities as well as other theatrics like Skating through Broadway, making this arena a special treat. Open skates and "skate jams" are scheduled throughout the year.
